Good ol' WHO, doing the important work of stamping out injustice once again, just like they did with the racist term "Wuhan".

I'll also note that the WHO equating the word "monkey" with African people in the first place, even with the justification of trying to ban it, is being ridiculously racist.

Depends on if there are actually racists in the population associating these words with a group of people and spreading hate speech/violence.

Then changing its name is justifiable since the a chunk of the population is stupid enough to be influenced by a name.

If no one has been associating the term monkeypox with Africans, then WHO is the one being racist.

The Spanish flu, COVID-19 and monkeypox were all American made, for instance, yet commonly associated with other countries.
