A homeowner in Indiana shot two intruders dead and detained two others at gunpoint while waiting for police to arrive after a gang of burglars broke into his home. The homeowner greeted them with a firearm and began firing. The homeowner is facing no charges relating to the incident, police said.

I'm all for defending your property and I'm glad the homeowner was ok and not charged with anything.

They were then taken into custody and booked into DeKalb County Jail on felony murder and burglary charges, the report noted.

Someone can be charged with murder if an individual dies while they are in the act of committing a felony, according to Indiana law, a report noted.

The perps knew what they were getting into and charging them with murder in addition to burglary seems excessive to me.

If you participate in a crime and someone gets killed, that's murder. It's been that way for a long time.
