In Hawaii it is illegal to live off the grid.

No it is not. Perfectly legal but there are still some rules one must follow to do this. As a matter of fact Hawaii allows more in the "off-grid" living than many of the remaining states. If you mean illegal in the sense you can't just find a piece of land and take over then yes. You're correct. Follow a few rules and living off grid is certainly doable and is done by many.

I agree with some of this persons comments but a few need calling out. First off with Tennessee. Great state and a neighbor of mine. But this part grabs me considering it is such a great state for gun laws. "There is no state income tax in Tennessee. Gun freedoms are very good, and in fact after a recent shooting, Tennessee’s lieutenant governor urged people to go and get their handgun carry permits." If they truly wanted gyn freedoms they should make this a "constitutional carry" state and do away with the permits. I've seen they are listed as a "CC" state but if this is so then why is the governor mentioning the permits? And New Hampshire. I love this state and came really close to moving there. I have many friends there and just love the "Live Free or Die" mentality. But southern NH is becoming more and more a continuation of Mass and this will only continue to spread. The author does address this in advising the NE portion of NH. It will take many years hopefully before the liberalism of Mass will spread that far.
