Actually, it doesn't. Turns out, criminals are mostly stupid people. If they were smart they wouldn't be criminals. What it does is terminate a threat to honest people.

In countries like England, where Burglary is not taken seriously, and people do not own firearms for self defense; the break in rate is through the roof.

Here it’s like half. And in states like Texas is half of states where you can’t own firearms.

    It doesn't at all. Criminals are dumb. One of the hallmarks of low intelligence is being able to predict the consequences of your actions and plan the life you'd like to live. It's like a super power.

    Dumb people can't do this, so they just do whatever feels good at the time. This leads to them committing horrifying crimes on a regular basis and sooner or later they get locked up. It doesn't deter them in the least.

    However shooting them in the head when they're trying to break into your house does remove that threat. That's why we do it.
