Clearly assaulting Chris Rock was an attempt by Will Smith to reclaim his masculinity shattered by his adulterous wife. Rock was a substitute for the black community as a whole and black men in particular who derided his cuck status. "Keep my wife's name out your fucking mouth!" is not really directed at Chris Rock but rather the men of his community who continued to use his wife as a means to humiliate him. I think that Smith's rage is indirectly directed towards his wife who had betrayed him. As you can see in the video he was laughing at the joke before he saw his wife's expression which is when he felt his role as a black man was being challenged AGAIN. He could not stand a second public strike to his image so the slap that he subconsciously wanted to deliver onto his wife's face ended up on Rock's instead.

I think he ended up looking like an out of control bitch and failed to reclaim his masculine persona. No way in hell he would have hit a white man or a larger man both in popularity and in size. He tried to take Chris Rock's manhood to childishly restore his own but failed miserably. A truly Shakespearean Tragedy.

I actually already have him blocked. As a moderator though, I can still see his comments here. I was actually surprised because this is the first time I've seen him being so insightful. It seems like the one thing he's an expert on is being a cuck.

This whole episode goes over my head because I view alopecia as a positive trait. So it was interesting to me to hear from somebody that could relate to the incident so well. I'm not ready to unblock him yet, but I might if he actually writes more insightful comments like this.

Trying hard to draw some viewership again?

Saw a reddit comment saying: "It's like celebrities are starting to believe they actually live in a movie and can walk around doing whatever the fuck they want."

Then after thinking for a bit, i was reminded of another case of crazy shit happening in an awards show the kanye - taylor swift incident. So yeah, stuff like this kinda makes me lean more racist. Just feel like this wouldn't have happened if they were white.

They just refuse to behave like civilized human beings.

The woke try to explain status and power in society through various identities and categories.

The fact is that really doesn't have any bearing on who holds power an status in the vast majority of relationships we have.

There is no way this incident could have happened the other way round. Smith holds such power and influence in the industry he can walk up on stage, hit a guy, go sit back down, have people comfort him, then go and accept and award and talk about wanting to spread love.

If this had happened the other way round Rock would have been carted out to a police van in 2 seconds flat.

The difference between them isn't race or money or identities, it is power.

You can't really explain how or why Smith has such power but he very much has it and everyone there last night knew it and respected it.

Do u know what a sucker punch is? Nobody i know respects a sucker punch. Why do you think Chris rock is laughing and looks so relaxed as Will walks towards him, and then is in utter shock at Will sucker punching him? Why is the audience all laughing along until they hear from Will's voice that what they just witnessed wasn't scripted? It's because not a single person there expects or desires to have such insane people among them. Doubt anybody was comforting him as much as they were wondering wtf is wrong with him and/or telling him that's not cool.

You can literally see this happening with your own eyes.

You might not like it but that's what happened.

If they were really horrified they would have dragged him out of there.

But what actually happened is they gave him an award and then a standing ovation.

Just saw celebs being asked after the oscars about the incident and they said they were confused AF. Which makes total sense since making fun of people at the oscars has been standard practice forever and this has never ever happened. People just didnt know how to react in the moment. The acceptance speech was hard to watch, so incoherent.

So what if people clapped at his speech? that's the normal thing to do, theyre just acting normally, and he's saying things that sound nice on the surface. The interesting bit is what will come next when people think about what actually happened. Will won't have a good public image after this at all, i dont see what's difficult to grasp about that. Why do you prefer your distorted unrealistic perspective instead, i wonder?

You can't hear what they're saying. The person who tweeted that is making up a narrative and you're acting like that made up narrative is fact. More to the point, a few celebs being on his side doesn't at all represent all celebs.

I like Chris Rock and no longer like Will Smith. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air become a real life Hancock

He should charge him with assault. When you live in a bubble long enough it becomes your reality, your norm. Some people need to be knocked down a peg or two.

They saw the Oscars were falling in power and influence. So they cooked this up to get back into the headlines.

And it worked. It's here, isn't it?

The whole thing is tailor made for becoming a meme. You think they don't know about that? You must be one of those coincidence theorists.

You're seriously paranoid my friend. Damn just imagining what it would be like to be that paranoid. If i was a shrink i'd say for certain that you have a paranoid personality disorder. Have u considered talking a shrink? I can't imagine there's a shrink on this planet that wouldn't diagnose you with that.

Wonder what's caused you to be this way. Was there some trauma in your life that could've made you lose trust in everything? Do you maybe smoke a lot of pot or do other drugs?

Would you like to address the argument instead of making personal attacks in violation of Saidit TOS?

I can intuit that people in this scenario aren't acting. I can't show proof and you can't show proof to the contrary... so it's just agree to disagree. It's wild to me how "skeptical" you are, but that's interesting. I don't actually want everyone to be the same, could be good to have some people around who are super duper skeptical. But personally, i just think their "acting", mainly Chris's "acting" would be too insanely good here if it were indeed acting.

[–]Chipit 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

It's simple: just ask, who benefits. It's that easy.

The Oscars and Hollywood in general benefits. Suddenly the Oscars is relevant again, after being in a losing position. Wow! How could this have happened!

We know for a fact that Hollywood are pieces of shit who have no problem making things up to suit them. This fits perfectly.

It wasnt scripted, unless they knew rocks joke in advance, told smith and set chris rock up.

Rock would have never agreed to this because he wound up just looking like a punk. If anything rock will be cancelled over this. He is the loser in all this.

Oh come on. One of the world's premier events and it's just left up to chance? That's coincidence theory.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The motive makes sense i agree with that part. But what also makes sense is that things just happen. I'm also a big fan of Occam's razor, and the simpler explanation here is the one without a conspiracy. But it's moreso trusting my gut from reading their body language. Even the best actors in the best movies aren't that good actors, not even close.. unfortunately for movies lol.

Bannerlord[S] 1 insightful - 0 fun - 4 days ago I can intuit that people in this scenario aren't acting.

Chris Rock's comedy performance after the awards showed he didnt know what was going on with the attack. Also: Oscars producer reveals what LAPD said about Will Smith - 8 minutes - People wanted Will Smith arrested, but Chris Rock said no.

No fucking way that slap was fake. With how heavily masculinity is being censured by hollywood in particular do you really think they'd let a man use violence to boost viewership? Maybe if he heckled him but no way an open handed slap would be orchestrated.

[–]Chipit 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

With the Oscars losing relevance by the day? Hell yes it was scripted. Now the Oscars are huge news again, and next year everyone is going to need to tune in or risk missing out.

Note the brilliance: black on black. Nobody has any room to complain.

It was a pro level move, and the Oscars can certainly afford that kind of talent.
