They are getting plenty of intel help the U.S. I'm sure the U.S. is monitoring the Russians and relaying that information to the Ukrainians in near real time.

Yep - I think this is evidence of how involved the US is on the ground - even with just a few advisors - because Petraeus has now revealed so much information that is highly confidential at the top levels, showing that enough people know this information that he can now share it. We normally don't get this stuff. We also know that British volunteer fighters took their personal phones to Ukraine, resulting in the bombing of a barracks that had 80 soldiers (when Russia tracked those phones). The official comment from Ukraine after that was: do NOT come to Ukraine unless you are formally trained in combat (inc. non-traceable phones).

The reports I've read say that they're not letting the weekend warriors near the front lines.

It's common in war propaganda to repeat daily that your opponents and their military/leadership are weak, disorganized, mentally deficient, have low moral, on the verge of collapse, and have feelings of failure.

Petraeus has became a simpleton propaganda spinster in often occasion lately.

2 problems:

Petraeus is a traitor - as we know him from the time he was "General Betray Us"

Yes, war propaganda is bad. What Petraeus mentions is however helpful information that helps understand how top commanders are being killed. It's the information we want, so that can try to corroborate it with the other sources. Today, news of the (potential) 15th top commander to die, here. (And I know the Daily Mail is also not very trustworthy, but they are merely copying and pasting useful data, just as Petraeus copied it.)
