Biden: "So, is the McDonalds ban working? Are Russians demanding Putin's head on a pike?"

Aid: "Well, not exactly. It seems their rate of heart disease and other health problems have declined dramatically. They're healthier and having better sex than any Russians in the last 20 years."

Biden: "What the hell is sex? Some sort of Russian sandwich?"

It's me between Svetlana and Ksenia.

That's a clear win for Russia.

Have to agree with you there

Russians have never been better off.

So McDonald's is a political action committee now?

[–]Canbot 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The (((wealthy))) who have cannibalize the majority of buisness are simply using thier assets to push their agenda.

Apparently corporations have just started doing whatever the politicians tell them to do

It's really fucked that we got to this point..

People/countries will think twice from now on before using any foreign service or letting a foreign company in.. The Chinese saw this coming a long time ago. The world will be a completely different place after this crisis. I am under no threat but even as an individual started preparing for the worst.. (being cancelled and bank account frozen) by hoarding crypto in local wallets + precious metals..

So much for "It’s a private company, they can do what they want!"

This will shut down an entire supply chain end to end with thousands of jobs lost.

Yes, I agree, in the short term, this will hurt the Russian economy, probably badly. In the long term, its hard to think they aren't better off without McDonalds

[–]Canbot 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

This will create opportunity for McNockoffs, spawning dozens of supply chains.

Maybe putin will just seize any assets and property held by macdonalds in russia.

The buildings will still be there in Russia. Local or national brands will move into these premises. Or small restaurants will take over. Not all fast food comes from western corporations.

Also, the food sold in these McDonald’s outlets come from Russian agriculture, or agriculture from countries that did not sanction Russia back in 2014/2015. Russia's restaurant industry can recover from that.

I feel really bad about Coca Cola ceasing operations in Russia. Russians deserve to have a Coke no matter what Putin did.

I remember the New Coke days.

These are some very strange measures. Depriving ordinary Russian citizens of Coke and McDonalds, at the expense of American profits

i have an extensive toilet distribution network that operates in russia.

Coca Cola is sugar water, I don't think they will miss anything.

Wine is just grape juice that's gone bad. Like wine, Coca Cola has properties (sweet, tart, acid) that enhance the enjoyment of a meal.

No McDonald's, no capeshit, no Facebook... Russia seems more attractive every day.

[–]Ethnocrat 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Another major W for Russia.

[–]aaarrgh 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I hope the russians will survive this...

In Japan, McDonald's stopped selling large and medium orders of french fries (Dec 2021), not because of war, but because of a potato shortage.

[–]Jackalope[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Potato shortage? I always thought potatos were cheap and plentiful, why couldn't they just buy more?

[–]In-the-clouds 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why didn't the Irish think of that during the potato famine? Just buy more.... That could have prevented the starvation of so many people....

But food is not always guaranteed to be cheap and abundantly available.

In the Irish potato famine, disease killed the potato plants and the harvests rotted in the ground. There were no potatoes to buy. If you want to know more about that famine, here's a short summary:

When McDonalds leaves a country, you know things are really bad.

[–]RandumbZer0 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If anything, they should be building more of them, with liquor stores & meth labs built in.

[–]at_finn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You mean they don't get to eat shitty McDonald's food. Such a punishment.
