Good, it's none of societies business if a person doesn't want to wear a helmet, and if you think otherwise you are a fascist. They can't hurt anyone but themselves.

Ok, guilty, that was bad faith use of the word fascist.

    I should have said tyrant.

I have gotten on people's case for using communist in a similar way. Honestly appreciate you calling me out on this, I should be better

But these are Seattle leftists doing this. They are the ones who came up with the nanny state "we know better than you" idea.

For them to repeal their own law is them admitting that they don't know better than everyone. This ability is central to the leftist value system.

Yeah I think this is true about the left on many issues, but the right has their own nanny state ideas as well. People on the right are the only ones against recreational marijuana laws, that sounds like nannying to me as well. The evangelical right is always decrying all manner of immorality they want to enforce on others. If you think either one of these cabals cares about 'freedom' you are sorely mistaken

Really? Plenty of people on the right smoke weed.

It's pretty obvious by now that the following the left's morality has resulted in catastrophe. They're sterilizing and surgically mutilating children. They're calling parents domestic terrorists for wanting to stop their children from being taught to hate. It's not a "both sides" issue. Moreover this whole comment is just whataboutism. Yes, they really do think they're better than you, and they think this enables - nay, obligates - them to tell you what to do.

To those on the right, it's only nannying when they don't want the government interfering with or keeping an eye on whatever it is they want to do. If the government wants to interfere in what others are doing or keep an eye on them which does not affect them then it's not nannying.

You are absolutely correct, although I would say the left often does the same thing. The left tends to like protecting people from themselves, and the right tends like to enforcing morality. I am not particularly fond of either
