Women always support what they view as the dominant regime or moral belief system. Women in Islamic countries support sharia. In the West, the dominant morality is leftism, not "free speech" or whatever its supposed ro be. So that is what they support

But when the left was more liberal women were more conservative than men in the West.

It's only now the left has gone more socialist/identity politics that has switched.

Likely because women are risk adverse they don't like liberalism.

What do you mean by liberal?

When the country was dominantly "conservative" women were more conservative than the average man. When the scales flipped and leftism became dominant, they switched to becoming more left than the average man.

They are more risk averse and agreeable, they generally dont seek out or hold dissident opinions

What do you mean by leftism?

I mean liberal as supporting personal liberties and equal opportunities rather than equal outcomes. What might be called classical liberalism in America.
