Bacha bazi is a centuries-old practice. One of the original factors mobilizing the rise of the Taliban was their opposition to the practice.

Defending is a strong word. I didn't know we were against the group trying to stop the practice of raping children. However the Taliban aren't exactly angels.

I also didn't realize Afghanistan needed foreign aid to keep food on the table and the lights on. We could have bombed their infrastructure and sieged the entire country into compliance by attrition.
