Local media is currently reporting that the suspected Islamist jihadist who took hostages at a Jewish synagogue in Colleyville, a Fort Worth suburb, has been shot and killed. At approximately 9:15 PM local time a loud bang was heard, followed by gunshots.

Ah, so it wasn't a white guy. That's why I haven't heard about it in the wider media.

It's being reported elsewhere in the world. Even the BBC covered it.

As a brief byline. It's already off all the front pages and is being ignored now. Whereas if the shooter were white, it would be frontpage news for a month and used for propaganda.

Remember the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pennsylvania? That shooter was white, and it was covered for weeks. It was even used as evidence that Trump somehow ordered Jews to be killed. Then a synagogue in New Jersey was shot up by a black Hebrew Israelite, and received almost no coverage at all.

Agreed. In these times of marginalised identities being erased, I find it problematic that they erase Pakistani and Muslim identities.
