While certainly a breach of office etiquette, wanking during a meeting wouldn't raise questions of journalistic integrity. The big problem is that he appears to have been lying about the extent to which he was working with his brother. I'd have some degree of respect had he been honest about his involvement or if he had resigned his position or took unpaid leave in order to support his brother as an advisor.

Correct. His journalism wasn't even discussed when they immediatly fired him for masturbating in front of colleagues on a zoom meeting and opening the door to all kinds of legal issues and just an overall bad for CNN look for CNN in the PR department.

He could be Roger Cronkite reincarnated but that doesn't mean he can go around giving surpise mastubation performances in the workplace.

With an ethical imperative that is pro public mastubation during business calls with coworkers but against giving your brother advice to avoid sexual harassment allegations from unwanted advances in the workplace that as far as I know did not go near as far as mastubating in front of his coworkers on a zoom call which would not have been grounds for his dismissal.
