Sounds like standard operating procedure to me when an FBI search warrant is being served. Don't want to give the subject of the search warrant and others in the home the opportunity to run off and destroy evidence or reach for a weapon to attack FBI agents.

Not even a little bit true. The FBI has historically cleared out the area, considered violent history, prevented camera crews. Retired FBI guys have stated this was clearly a message being sent. Its intimidation, plain and simple.
