Macdonald anchored “Weekend Update” during the O.J. Simpson trial, where he delivered one of his most memorable jokes at the top of the episode following Simpson’s acquittal: “Well, it is finally official: Murder is legal in the state of California.” After his removal from “Weekend Update,” Macdonald accused NBC exec Don Ohlmeyer of firing him over his controversial Simpson jokes, though Ohlmeyer cited poor ratings.

He was one of the best SNL cast members in that shows history. Ohlmeyer is full of shit.

Norm is/was my favorite comic of all time.

I grew up watching his brilliant irreverence for authority, and a pension for hilariously taboo comedy.

Norm DGAF.

One of the best examples of Norm's irreverence for the taboo.

9/11 was a national tragedy

He was brutal.

I bet he would want someone to write a hilarious and biting analysis concerning the circumstances of his untimely passing.
They didn't mention a cause of death, which is revealing.

It's not difficult to read between the lines. He was probably killed by the jab.

A legit comedic genius. He went against the grain.

We needed a laugh. Now, more than ever.

Edit: The article indicates he died of cancer. Do you believe them?

Edit 2: A tribute to taboo and irreverence... . Norm Macdonald Loses His Sponsors (intentionally)

Superb.

Just imagine if he died on the same date as that tragedy.

Yeah, kinda a missed opportunity there.

Oh well, at least he served a useful purpose.

That's the best one.

I need to start asking people that. Follow it up with, "Come on maaaan... You can tell me..."
