Why the fuck is the government funding the arts anyway? It serves no purpose but to drain badly needed money from the people and put it into the pockets of artists that despise them.

Art is complete garbage and the sooner it gets completely defunded, the better. Then maybe art can go back to being a part of our lives, instead of being a hate chorus.

The argument is that for every £1 spent on the arts it puts £3 or something back into the economy.

Why that £1 has to come out of taxes isn't explained though.

I mean partly is because our immigrants are more selfish now.

I'm the past most theatres and other arts had immigrant (Jewish) patrons because they where so grateful to have been taken in by the country they wanted to give something back.

Now immigrants, even those fleeing from certain death, are entitled and don't give a shit about paying back to the society which saved them. The patron funding model doesn't work any more.

That era has long passed. Today's immigrants have zero respect for America. Many never chose to come here. If they ever learn to speak English, they immediately are taught to despise America and its people for being racist, nativist white supremacist bigots. Art itself isn't necessarily complete garbage, it's the pretentious goons that make a living assessing it and doing the equivalent of trying to inflate the purpose of and grant undeserved genius to someone shitting on a styrofoam plate. I'm sort of divided on how much the government should be involved within the funding of it though, since there's usually a mixed bag of works that are in museums and different facilities. Public funding will probably continue to go to shit as people grow more retarded though, so what needs to happen to preserve old and important pieces?

The government shouldn't be involved at all. Art got by perfectly well for all of human history without stealing from the people. Why should we fund the livelihoods of people who absolutely despise us and make it crystal clear with every "artwork" they create?
