Uh, weed is terrible for you. It might save your life if you have cancer, but otherwise, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

WHY is it terrible? It makes you NOT WANT. It removes your willpower.

Weedtokers be like: "I can stop any time I want, but I just don't want to." CAPTAIN OBVIOUS STRIKES AGAIN.

I smoked weed for around 15 years. In the mid-1980's, I wanted to stop, and I did so immediately, and without any difficulty. I haven't touched it since then.

I represent a sample space with an N of 1, so of course, no generalizations can be made about my case. However, my situation is still a counterexample to the above generalization.

I smoked weed for one year as an adult. It relaxed me. I stopped taking care of the nagging problems of life and career, and I went from making $200k /year to making $6k /year. Also a n=1 anecdote. I know many with a similar one though.

Did you start as a youth? That changes things drastically, as you form your personality around being a weedtoker instead of adding it to an already formed personality, in which case the very insidious harm of weed is much more easily identified.

Wait, are you a Jew?

This smells of bullshit.

In 1995, 2% of schizophrenia diagnoses in the country were associated with cannabis use disorder. In 2000, it increased to around 4%. Since 2010, that figure increased to 8%, the study found.

If they have percentages, then they have total counts. But for some reason, they didn't include those numbers.

If marijuana were causing schizophrenia, then you'd expect to see an increase in the number of cases beyond what you'd expect from normal population growth. But that's not happening. If it were, then they would have said so. But their total case numbers don't support their claim that marijuana use is harmful, so they left them out.

Here's an alternate theory: Schizophrenics are self-medicating with marijuana. As marijuana becomes easier to acquire, more schizophrenics are using it to treat their symptoms.

Not just alternate, far more likely. Once you have weed stores and home delivery, people averse to crime can now participate.

If you've smoked pot for any reasonable length of time, you'll know that one of the side-effects is a minor case of paranoia. An advanced form of paranoia is paranoid schizophrenia, which is the most common form of mental illness. A study some years ago on teenagers indicated that those who smoked pot before the age of 20 were more likely to have congnitive difficulties after middle age, normally in the form of slow reasoning skills, though also schizophrenia. For those old reports, see: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=marijuana+schizophrenia&t=h_&ia=web

Last year I went to a weed shop and picked up an eighth of indica, was like $30. First thing I noticed was it seemed a bit week compared to my friends weed. Then each bowl was different. The forth I started hearing shit in my head, felt like my heart was racing. In my 50 years of smoking I've never encountered this experience until this shop weed.

Long story short it's not the weed but (IMO) it's something they add to the weed.

Indica is its own thing. What they used to call "speed weed" or "loco weed", what African warriors smoked before going out to do serious mayhem.

Interesting, https://www.healthline.com/health/indica-strains "Traditionally, indica strains are associated with more of a body high that makes you feel relaxed. They’re often recommended for people seeking strains to help with pain, insomnia, nausea, or poor appetite."

and I smoke it to sleep so, how can a strains used to relaxed and recommended for people seeking strains to help with pain, insomnia ?. I don't buy you comment at all.

Paranoia highs and bad reactions to certain substances. People can have paradoxical effects from any substance.

As I said In my 50 years of smoking I've never encountered this experience until this shop weed. And A paradoxical reaction or paradoxical effect is an effect of a chemical substance, typically a medical drug.

    [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I've had paranoia highs nearly every time that I've consumed something with THC.

THC is a chemical, and it's one of the many different constituents that make up marijuana. Marijuana is prescribed for medical purposes in some areas, and would be considered a controlled substance.

Smoking can cause mental health disporders like psychosis. It is well known.

But those who want to still do it because of good effects it causes, can still do it.

    [–]DaijoubuYabai 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

We need to ban each and every ingestible substance which is not either (1) a medicine which is scientifically proven to be effective and has minimal side effects, or (2) a food item that provides scientifically proven nutritional benefits with minimal health detriments. Any ingestible substance which does not fall into these categories must be made illegal, and anyone who is found guilty of possessing, selling, buying, or ingesting any such illegal substance must be imprisoned.

A small representatative sample of the substances which must be made illegal are marijuana, anything containing ethyl alcohol, anything containing nicotine, and anything containing sugar. There are numerous other ingestible substances which also fit into this illegal category.

And also, every ingestable substance which is not forbidden must be made mandatory.

I know two psychiatrists who both seriously question schizophrenia itself as an illness.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Are the both the same person?

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I can assure you both ain't you. And i also can assure you i trolled already when you were sucking on some formula. So gtfo.

    [–]chadwickofwv 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yea, there is a tidal wave of seriously fucked up shit coming out of psychiatry in the last several decades. As far as I'm concerned the entire industry should be treated as flat-earthers. In fact, the flat-earthers "science" is far more credible.

I wouldn't go this far but i appreciate input.
