Yes! I've been writing for years his trial was ridiculous.

i cared more before I see he admitted to doing it.

how they found out, and a verbal agreement?

fucking joke .. like they ever care about such things with 'normal' people

He plead out, that's just how our legal system works. I had to plea to disorderly conduct after the cops beat my ass and arrested me. It cost me tens of thousands, dragged on for a year and a half, and juries think you wouldn't be in court if you weren't guilty. It makes sense to plea, that's how the courts work these days.

Our legal system is fucked. You're right, nobody would care about us.

no, you really don't get it.

he gave up a deposition for a civil trial in 2005 but supposedly the da told him if he did he wouldn't be criminally charged with what he said (immunity)

then 15 years later.. they used that to convict him.

i actually agree with the decision (if true) .. but fuck man.. they never should have given it.. and since it isn't written down anywhere..

but whatever.. point is.. he confessed, not a plea

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

he confessed, not a plea

That's how plea bargains work, you confess in exchange for a deal. It often makes sense to plea even if you aren't guilty and that ain't right, but you can't tell if someone is truly innocent or guilty from that.

A plea bargain (also plea agreement or plea deal) is an agreement in criminal law proceedings, whereby the prosecutor provides a concession to the defendant in exchange for a plea of guilt or nolo contendere. This may mean that the defendant will plead guilty to a less serious charge, or to one of the several charges, in return for the dismissal of other charges; or it may mean that the defendant will plead guilty to the original criminal charge in return for a more lenient sentence.[1]

the story you are telling me is that he didn't do it, and it was just part of a plea.

that is what I hear.

what I say is that no, he did do it, he admitted to it, it was part of a plea, but the plea bargain was immunity if he told the truth

not the same as 'admitting to a crime you didn't do' .

I don't know if he did it, he might have. We don't know. It makes sense to plea. He could have fought that legal challenge for years, dragged his name through the mud, had bail revoked for any infraction, and ended up in jail if he let it go to trial which would cost even more money and time.

Or take the plea, pay the woman, and move on with his life. He chose to do that because it makes sense.

So it's hard to say that plea bargain means he was actually guilty when there's a huge incentive to plea and as part of the deal the whole thing was supposed to be incognito.

they were knocked out on dope while he had sex with them, so why are they complaining? they got free dope.

I think you're making a joke, but chicken heads are a thing. A lot of times the girls tell their bfs to wait in the car while they fuck or suck the dealer hoping to get cheap or free drugs. I used to see that all the time back in the day. Often they paid full price and got what they paid for, but still blew the dealer so "he will hook it up fat." They thought they were getting extra drugs, but usually they only got what they paid for and we'd all laugh about the cucked bf.

Someone made a good case that the entire thing was a demoralization PsyOp. Who knows. Hollyweird is weird.

How long before he does it again?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (22 children)

We don't know he did it at all, that's the problem. Unpopular opinion, I know, but there's just no hard evidence either way.

He's old, blind, and feeble. If he was a rapist, his rape days are over.

[–]Zapped 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (21 children)

I think he did it, and allegedly he had done it, at least once, to otherwise willing partners. His fetish was that they had to be knocked out. The reason he was freed is that the former DA agreed to not pursue charges and then the new DA decided that agreement didn't matter since he was the new DA. A failure of due process.

I just don't know either way. The woman who testified against him was doing quaaludes, a drug that's difficult to get and highly sought after by some, with Bill Cosby in his hotel room.

Women who trade sex for drugs are known as chicken heads. It's a thing. And besides her word there's no evidence of rape.

He may be guilty but if that is the standard by which people are convicted, we're going to end up with more innocent people in prison than we already have.

Maybe some groups in the US want to destroy anyone we have ever looked up to. Tear down the Teddy Roosevelt statue and put up a new one of that crack-smoking mayor of DC or Baltimore. Same-same. You know, Hunter Biden's smoking buddy. I never had a chance to try crack, yet.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (13 children)

I've tried crack a few times back in my drug days nearly 2 decades ago, it just gives me a headache and it's not fun. I guess it's more fun for other people and I'm just weird? I don't like coke either though.

Then a society which shuns justified violence, entrepreneurship, rocket jockeying, and all other forms of rewarding individual risk-taking (I'm ignoring dare devils for the sake of argument) eliminates all possible associated rewards and makes society poorer. Not to mention the psychological stunting it causes in those who would have been rewarded, which drives them to those alternate highs as druggies and wire-heads.

No wonder masculinity is toxic to them. It is life itself.

Interesting! That's not the only drug I don't respond to normally, shrooms have no effect on me either. I don't have what it takes to turn the prodrug psilocybin to psilocin apparently.

I will stick to tried and true substances and the main one is now legal in thirty-eight US states. Our second favorite is the one that makes back pain go away. Maybe you don't like that feeling of wanting to do ten different things at once.

This is why they tell you not to assume things. I switched to alcohol from my drug of choice. That's pretty common.

You don't understand my people at all.

There are at least 60 women who have accused Cosby of sexual assault.

        https://www.thewrap.com/60-bill-cosby-accusers-complete-list-breakdown-guilty/

I didn't personally witness any of them, but I think he probably did most of what he is accused. Not guilty verdicts of Cosby, OJ Simpson, Robert Blake, and Casey Anthony show that the you can still get a fair trial in the U.S., even if you need a little money to help you along.

        [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'm reading that link now, but already the first one is "Cosby implied that Plaintiff Moritz would become a major star through his direction." Honest question here, if he promised things for sex and didn't deliver, does make it rape? If the women had sex expecting to further their careers and it didn't happen, that's certainly not right, but is it rape? I'm only on 8 right now but that seems to be a theme. And nobody said anything until 2015 when the #metoo movement became popular. They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

I really don't mean to defend his innocence, but the trial wasn't right. I wouldn't want to be convicted by that standard, would you?

        [–]Zapped 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Could be "breach of contract". Of course it was a different time then. That's how the business world worked sometimes. It still sometimes works that way. There are plenty of stories of actresses who gave up sex for help with stardom. There are also stories of women who were raped with the rapists using the excuse of "an agreement". In 2014, Hannibal Burris made a joke about the open secret in Hollywood about Cosby. It helped some of the accusers to come forward. If half of those accusations are false, it still leaves 30 cases. I'll say the same for Harvey Weinstein.

The trial wasn't right and I'm glad to see things set right. I am also disappointed that Cosby will never face punishment anywhere close to what he did to those women.

        [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

        I agree.

I am also disappointed that Cosby will never face punishment anywhere close to what he did to those women.

He's blind, old, feeble and his reputation is trash. It may not be what he deserves, but he won't be hurting anyone anymore.
