Basecamp is a very small company, but they are significant for defining how culture can be done right in the tech space. People have always looked up to them for standing true to their values and doing what they believe is right. Sure there were detractors, but I think that's just jealousy at the fact that two guys started a private company and basically redefined web software for a generation.

They offered their employees six months salary and no hard feelings if they disagree with this decision. In my opinion that's very generous and they don't owe them anything else. A lot of these engineers were probably making close to $200k salary so we're supposed to be surprised when a handful of them took the cool $100k to say have a nice life?

Wow, they're so oppressed for being told to stop comparing everything to genocide at work.
