This:

closing of churches and banning of gatherings

(Not that the churches are banned; big effing difference.)

So you admit you have no idea how "banning churches" differs from "closing churches"?

      No.

For example, most churches are closed much of the week, with the exception of Sunday services and occasional weekly gatherings. Closing them a bit longer is not a major problem. People can meet online and pray at home for a few weeks.

If a church is banned, it cannot host people online or run other kinds of church services. It's not allowed to be a church if it is banned.
