I still don't understand the global histeria around flyod. Didn't he held a pregnant lady hostage? Why are so many people acting like he's a martyr or something?

[–]wristaction 3 insightful - 6 fun3 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 6 fun -  (1 child)

Not merely a martyr. He was the best of us. Floyd was America. Whatever befalls the republic in coming years, it will be cosmic punishment for the senseless loss of this great, great man.

[–]Zapped 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

You've highlighted part of the problem. These activist groups use really bad people as their martyrs. Not only does this make people skeptical of ANY stories of police misconduct, but it also causes bias AGAINST what they claim they are trying to change. I've heard people make excuses for Floyd, Blake, Michael Brown, and Breonna Taylor. I ask them if they do the things that these people did that got them in their respective situations. Floyd was an overdose that was sped up by Chauvin, but the rest got themselves shot in acts of violence.

He died because a cop kneeled on his neck for 9 minutes. Cops aren't supposed to do that. It could result in a lawsuit. It could cost the city $27 million.

Why did the cop kneel on his neck for 9 minutes? A call from a cashier about a potentially counterfeit $20 bill.

So anyone saying WTF to this manslaughter is justified. Turns out that's a lot of people saying WTF, and it will continue. This is in my news feed today.

Floyd died of an overdose. The restraint used by Officer Chauvin is taught in Police Academy. It's literally what cops are supposed to do. https://www.businessinsider.com.au/minneapolis-police-trained-to-use-neck-restraint-george-floyd-2020-7

I think the object of mockery in the Charlie Hebdo cartoon may have whiffed past you.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (20 children)

Yes, these arguments have been considered in court. And more on the coroner's report here: https://www.npr.org/sections/live-updates-protests-for-racial-justice/2020/06/04/869278494/medical-examiners-autopsy-reveals-george-floyd-had-positive-test-for-coronavirus

In short: if these were valid arguments (overdose & the usual neck pressure), the family would not have won $27 in the lawsuit.

(Cops are supposed to understand the limitations of their restraint tactics.)

The validity of the facts isn't disputable. You can cum hoc, ergo propter hoc the produce of a corrupt process all you like.

George Floyd appears to be the only case in which a person who died with Covid isn't declared by the system as having died of Covid.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (13 children)

only case in which a person who died with Covid isn't declared by the system as having died of Covid

Impressive to see this on Saidit, where COVID19 is of course a hoax, perpetuated by Jews or some such

[–]wristaction 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Nah dude, it's the Plague. Don't go outside. Unless it's to protest white people or something.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Oh no! What have white people done this time? Can't seem to stay out of trouble.

[–]wristaction 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I know, right?

Last I checked we were using our "supremacy" powers to make black guys murder elderly Chinese men.

[–]Node 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

COVID19 is of course a hoax

It's hard to believe you accept any aspect of reality, but this must be a 'once in a lifetime' event.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

Would be interesting to know which resources have brainwashed Saiditors into believing COVID19 is a hoax. What kind of 'reality' is developed at those resources, where science and facts are so easily refuted? Care to name any of the resources you've read or watched that helped you think COVID19 is a hoax?

[–]Node 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

No, it's not for me to do people's job for them. People deserve to create their own consequences in life.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

So if I search for - COVID19 is a hoax - I will find your resources?

Only a handful of crazy alt-right propaganda sites will note this, and they have absolutely no credibility. So unless you have a better resource, you've got nothing reliable.

[–]bjam27 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

Lol this was a gib away to not be called racist..

You're plainly lying about the arguments or are too dumb to understand them.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

OK - so how was $27 million awarded without the appropriate evidence? Did they note that there was not sufficient evidence, but looks like the family should nonetheless get $27 million? Seems implausible. I'm not stating an opinion. I'm merely noting what happened. But I should instead trust the opinion of an anonymous person on Saidit who merely states an opinion without providing any appropriate evidence?

[–]Tarrock 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

"Lets give them 27 million to go away. It's not our money after all."

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Can't be done if there's "reasonable doubt" (which there isn't).

[–]Tarrock 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Trayvon Martin's family got over 1 million.

Michael Brown's over 1.5 million

Cities will happily pay tax payer dollars to make this shit go away. Floyd's family hit the jackpot and I'd be willing to bet that they are glad he's gone.

[–]Zapped 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Yeah. I've changed my opinion on this case a couple of times after learning new evidence; some here on Saidit. Floyd was going to die anyway, but once he was in police custody, he became their problem. Sure, in my opinion, Floyd was responsible for being in that situation, but if he had died on the ground with Chauvin's knee in the small of his back instead of on his neck, Floyd's death would have stayed out of the national news.

[–]wristaction 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

It's not necessary to synthesize a middle path between two opposing viewpoints. Sometimes the truth is somewhere in between but other times it isn't.

To say that Floyd would've died anyway is to acknowledge that the entire premise of the Floyd martyrdom saga and the year of bolshevic terrorism it animated is false. To backtrack to the hypertechnical point that "once he was in police custody, he became their problem" is not sense or reason. It may be a concession to reality in the sense that indeed the Gorge Floyd martyr myth is the hegemonic narrative and you have little hope of changing it or forestalling its implications. But it doesn't serve truth or reason or sense.

[–]Zapped 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Now we're getting into hypothetical Ronald Opus suicide territory.

[–]wristaction 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

How so?

[–]Zapped 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Are you familiar with this thought experiment? Someone jumps out of the 10th floor but on the way down is accidentally shot by someone else on a lower floor attempting their own suicide. Is it murder or suicide? Same with Floyd. Murder or overdose? Just because Floyd was going to die anyway doesn't absolve Chauvin of his responsibility of trying to keep Floyd alive. Not only that, but he sped up his death.

[–]wristaction 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

thought experiment

Sounds fun but nongermane.

The law protects the people we send out to deal with junkie garbage with qualified immunity.

[–]bjam27 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Tox proved he overdosed. The video confirms it.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If only they understood this in the courtroom, it could have saved taxpayers $27 million. (The tox report mentions several substances, but not enough to kill a person. Video shows death by suffocation.)

[–]Node 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

He died because a cop kneeled on his neck for 9 minutes.

That is false, and you know it to be a lie.

Cops aren't supposed to do that.

Cops are supposed to do that, if they're supposed to follow any of the training they receive.

Why did the cop kneel on his neck for 9 minutes?

He was resisting getting into the vehicle, and there was no pressing need to shoot him.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, those arguments have been addressed in the present thread and many times earlier. They were obviously not sufficient for the defence in court, thanks especially to the video evidence, the toxicology report, &c.

[–]Nemacolin[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Oh, he was a man who had his life choked out of him by a policeman. There are so many it is easy to lose track. This was the guy that was choked, in Milwaukee. I hope that helps.

[–]wristaction 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

The choking thing must've happened after the restraint seen on that video. In human physiology, the larynx is in the front.

[–]Nemacolin[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I bet the defense team will want you on the stand. You need to call them.

Science denier ^

[–]Node 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

A cop followed him into the hospital and then choked him an hour later? Why are you lying about this?
