Well, isn't the government running business sort of what Communism is? Can't have that. Government might want to force bakers to make Gay wedding cakes.

Maybe publicly traded companies shouldn't be allowed to play with politics? If neolibs can enforce "must earn max cash", "must not kill the country" should be enforceable too.

Jobs was right. He knew. We should learn to read contract. Lengthy unreadable contracts should be boycotted.

So you figure that the Commissar ought to make sure a business sells cakes to all comers? The government ought to impose a Fairness Doctrine on the radio and TV stations?

It's more like sell a cake, wait for it to be eaten, demand that the buyer become a slave, remove the cake from the belly upon disobedience. No refunds.

How is this even happening? Slavery contracts are, supposedly, illegal. Contracts that greatly harm one side are illegal too. This is the exact reason no one reads them.

When a hostile faction is in process of taking over you country, I don't think a commissar could save you.

I have no idea what analogy you are trying to make. Is a company free to do business with whom it likes in a way it likes or not?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

Sure.

The problem with Big Tech is that they can be in the process of doing business, and then, suddenly, ban you for political reasons, greatly harming your business in the process.

Free market can deal with biased businesses, but sudden unannounced biases seem kinda unfair. Especially for publicly traded companies.

Contracts that allow this are extremely one-sided. That's kinda illegal.

Please do tell me about how a contract you agreed to but do not like is illegal.

Again, you are taking the position that The Government ought to enforce fairness in the jungle of business. Cool. I can dig it.

Do you think The Government ought to force a company to sell Gay wedding cakes?

In an ideal world, there could be independent trade organizations providing contract shablons, or...

In the real world, unconscionable contracts are already illegal. A contract that allows one party to freely harm the other party if they fail to follow the party line, is clearly one-sided.

Please do tell me more about this concept that an unfair contract is illegal in the US. Look at my contract with my credit card company, it is very one-sided. It even prohibits me from taking them to court. Yet it is perfectly legal & enforceable.

But of course this all goes back to crying that things are so unfair for DJT. It is just unfair that companies do not want to do business with him.

It even prohibits me from taking them to court.

No, I don't think they can cancel all laws with a contract. Slavery is illegal nowadays.

Such contracts just say they want everything your state allows them to take. You can still sue them if they try to take more.

The situation with such contracts is possible only because the government makes regulations to protect customers from harm. And everyone knows such regulations exist. We would have better contracts otherwise.

If only there was something that wasn't Communism or unrestricted capitalism. Some kind of third option

[–]Nemacolin 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, if only.

But nowadays, if you propose controls on our ruling class and their corporations you are labelled as a Communist.
