This is a crime. I'm not so much a hand sanitizer guy, more of a wash your damn hands type but people were flipping out about not being able to get sanitizer. The shelves were bare. ISO alcohol could not be found.

Then slowly I started to see brewery and distillery knock offs. Nothing fancy just a plain white label with a "brand" and an ingredients list.

Society hates initiative, whether good or bad.

don't blame this on "society"

Neither of them should pay it.

It's not clear whether each of the 800 distilleries have to pay that amount or that's the total, if the latter the fee would be $17.75 each.

I have no sympathy for them, those craft sanitizers were expensive as hell and the supply of hand sanitizer was hardly out long. I still see lots of those jugs in the liquor store nobody wanted to buy.

It's each, and totals $11.74 million if they want it from all 835 on the list.

OK, so that is over.

Distilleries that helped produce hand sanitizer during the start of the pandemic won't have to pay thousands of dollars in fees after all.

Hundreds of distilleries needed to register as drug makers to produce hand sanitizer, which requires an annual fee of about 15-thousand dollars.

The Department of Health and Human Services said the Food and Drug Administration did not receive approval to bill distilleries.

The department told distilleries they do not have to pay the fee.

A spokesperson for the agency said these businesses should be applauded for their actions - not taxed.

Bureaucracy at its finess...

Mr. A : housten, we have a problem. Mr. B : I have a solution! Mr. A : how about you pay for it, you hypocrite! Mr. B : Hold on, what? Mr. A : Clearly, you are the criminal!

$11.74 million is what they're asking for. 835 Distilleries either fell for the hoax, or decided to extract money from the retards who did.

Selling a product to those who want it has hardly anything to do with falling for a hoax. Although yea.. probably many of them did.

I will say though that I use the stuff as a cleaner/solvent in the printing industry and even though I keep a decent stock of the stuff I still needed to get another jug from one of these independent providers this last year. So it does rub me the wrong way that the feds would punish people for supplying the need. Of course, I already despised the feds.

How many of those distillers were in operation during the Kung flu scare of 2002-2004?
