Grant had no right invading the seceding nations they were within their constitutional rights to secede, and it had nothing to do with the racist slavery that was going on.

If the Civil War was actually about slavery, the Union wouldn't have raped and murdered countless slaves, and the countless civilians who didn't even own slaves. You can't say that slavery wasn't an issue at the time, but it wasn't the sole cause of the war.

Grant was a colonizer: he colonized the South. That obviously ain't what the explicitly anti-Southern Antifa meant, but their entire existence is ironic: an organization founded to fight Fascism adopts Fascist policies, such as censorship and killing political enemies.

States are within their constitutional right to secede, if alabama or alaska decide to secede tomorrow they'll be invaded immediately (if they even get to secede in the first place before the media bashing them into submission).

But if California or New York seceded, it wouldn't be a big deal and the media would shame the states that stayed.

The left is right that the US is an empire, but they're the real imperialists; the federal government has been violating the rights of the states and the people for centuries.

People are starving and both the left and the right support the military budge, half of which would save all the starving people (not that i'm a communist, but just as an indication of how much money we're talking about)... The empire building isn't worth it, why spend 5 times more than china on "protecting our 'interests' abroad" when we have no interests at home for regular people.

It's quite hypocritical that the American left claims to be against imperialism, while oppressing not only their own People, but the Peoples of other Nations. If they where truly anti-imperialist, they would allow sovereignty to states both foreign and domestic.

On the issue of the military budget, cut it in half — at the very least. And for good measure, audit the Pentagon — no, the whole government — and if money's being stolen or misallocated: arrest everyone responsible and haul 'em into court. We can't put up with thieves stealing from the taxpayers.

I'm even toying with the idea of decentralizing the armed forces to the states. They'd be much more responsible, seeing how all but one have balanced budget requirements.

Furthermore, all these undeclared wars have not been approved by Congress, thus are unconstitutional. We should immediately pull every single troop out of every single foreign country until war is officially declared. Furthermore, the Constitution should be amended to specify how a war should be declared, and to require a two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress to do so.

We have to put America first; we have to put American values first. No more foreign wars, no more bloated military budgets, and no more stepping on the rights of the States.

Definitely ‘colonialist’. Take Latinx as an example. Practically nobody in Latin America identifies by this, and most have never even heard of this. It’s a nonsense effort by whites and Latinos who commonly don’t even speak Spanish and are gringos in all but surname. Same deal with BLM and the UK, imagining that all blacks everywhere have the same issues and history as black criminals in the US.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There are huge differences between Blacks in the US, let alone around the world. A Southern Black is fundamentally different from a Northern one, and the same goes for urban and rural Blacks. Furthermore, there's a major divide in class.

It's hard to argue that a wealthy, urban, Northern Black is facing the same issues as a working-class, rural, Southern Black — but that's what the left is arguing.

imagining that all blacks everywhere have the same issues ... as black criminals in the US.

This one's kind of true though.

I was thinking more of the specific BLM cause du jour of blacks supposedly being executed by the police. Normal black people in the UK certainly aren't getting shot by police, and even black criminals in the UK are no more likely than white criminals to end up being injured when fighting police.

even black criminals in the UK are no more likely than white criminals to end up being injured when fighting police.

This is also true for the US. America does have a particular problem with police brutality, but it's not racial.

For any country where black people are a minority, even those without a history of slavery, blacks are three-to-four times overrepresented within prison populations, though there is no reason to believe that this is the result of discrimination.

What a shame.

Shows you who owns the media then.

The Yankees, the rich, and China.
