Islamism is religion-based nationalism, zionism is religion-based nationalism. Religion-based nationalism always ends up turning into violence, as evidenced by Islamist terrorism. Just a reminder that Palestinianism isn't Islamism, Palestinianism is a strain of Arab nationalism. Arab nationalism is more race-based/nation-based than religion based. Bashar is a arab nationalist and his state is secular, and ISIS regularly attacks it for that reason.
