Temujin was his birth name and it is commonly used in Asia. China would like us to forget that their empire was ruled by Mongolians for many years.

They do. They still hold a grudge against Japan for supposed crimes during WWII. For contrast think of how many Americans or other WWII Allies still hate Germany or Germans for WWII. Zero to 10% maybe? The propaganda against Japan in China is good for the party because citizens can focus their hatred on Japan rather than their present oppressors.
