What if it's?

  • One who disregards laws and social norms as a form of rebellion against authority.

  • (by extension) One who promotes chaos and lawlessness; a nihilist.

The 99.9 % are in charge, i.e. if they actually don't want their “leaders”, they can fire them anytime.

Is replacing the current system with an all-powerful socialist utopia a lesser evil?

Or at least according to the rules of their country. I think the way we do democracy could certainly be improved, but I wouldn't throw it out in favour of "rules without rulers" or whatever other nonsense was in that article.

If it is in fact the 1 %/0.1% against the rest, how can they can fire them anytime not be true?

Well, yeah. If you want to play along the "rules" of revolution & anarchy by taking down the government without due process ("anytime"), then sure.

I don't want that. Those are the people who promise utopia if they could only get their way... no thanks.

The 99 % can vote them out any time?

Or rise up and burn their homes and persons. That's what usually happens.

It's not the 99% who burn their homes and persons, it's a small minority.

I was only saying that we can't vote them out of power. We can forcibly remove them. The people who are burning places right now are, obviously, not going after the root-problem and burning that

Why can't vote them out of power?

Do you really believe that our election process is trustworthy? And ask yourself this: if Americans were to successfully vote out all of their politicians, would the politicians step down?

If you think the answer is yes, then you are confused. Our election process is fucked, and money rules that world with a tight fist. I've seen it happen on a local level, where the players were millionaires. On a federal/state level, billionaires hire proxies to run for them.

If we were to somehow vote in a true political outsider, he would get killed. If we were to vote out all of our federal politicians, and replace them with non-party members, they would raise the media and their army of bots and lobbyists against us, and we would be caught in a civil war.

They wouldn't win, but still. The fact remains that those in power would not step down, even if we were to somehow get the ballot counters to do their jobs honorably (right now, they don't)

The electorate college would shift the results in the direction they want, and when we shout foul play, they'll shout insurrection from terrorists and "name your boogeyman"

Yes: but within the bounds of the constitution. Whether that means a 4-year term, or a vote of no-confidence from the opposition to call an election, or whatever it is your own country normally does. That doesn't mean the government can be removed "anytime". It's about following the rules that were agreed to.

Elections are held regularly, and the 99% can vote them out.

No, they can't, but good on you for holding such a ridiculous thought as being truth. It must be draining.

What is stopping them?

"Anarchist" is not an insult, to the woefully ignorant. To everyone else it is.
