Is there something wrong with a diplomatic facility burning documents?

When they do it like morons. Yes. Apparently they are just moving to a new location, and can't transport the documents across American soil. That being said, this makes them look like they are panicking.

Before we invaded Panama we had to burn bunches of documents. Eventually, we resorted to using those steal barbecues in the picnic areas. I signed receipts for sealed envelopes and then watched them burn. Shows you how vital I was to the war effort.

People in the comments are saying this only happens when war is imminent. I'm unaware of the precedent they're referring to. Could someone inform me?

It seems they are changing locations, and can't transport their documents over American soil, so they are burning them. The fact that they have no idea how bad this looks to burn documents in mass, as though panicking, only shows that the people china has assigned to their embassy, are not fit for their position to represent their country.
