Such concerns were highlighted when a Predator drone was spotted over Minneapolis during protests that turned violent in May.

You know what? I'm completely fine with the government at the very least monitoring when hundreds of people are looting, rioting, burning, and in some cases murdering their neighbors. Apparently police aren't able to do so much as use tear gas or arrest rioters, much less shoot anyone committing violent felonies now. If they can't even look at crime in progress then we're going to be on a clear path to anarchy.

The lives of thousands have people in Minnepolis have been ruined by these idiots. Entire businesses are gone, many of them minority owned. But the government can't do anything because of "muh privacy"?

Bring on the drones! You have no right to privacy in public, especially when you're fucking over your neighbor.

If you believe the government shuts down those drones when there is no rioting, looting, protesting, criminal acts occurring.. Well, all i can day is you're ignoring a long arc of human history, in favor of your particular group and rainbows and lollipops...

Donald Trump is responsible for these riots. Anyone who cares about freedom at all should be demanding he step down to get someone actually willing to do what he either ineptly or maliciously won't do; use the bully pulpit to call out all of these demonstrators, leftist governors/legislatures/states every day, every presser, at every event. Even in issues like masks and covid. But he can run off to south Dakota for rallies and sign multi trillion dollar giveaways, but he can't speak out against anyone or anything except on Twitter, where it's really just to virtue signal.

DT is bending over anyone who's a conservative for RINOs and leftist Republicans, and He's straight up wiping off all the lube because he's silently endorsing policies like military drones, which make no mistake are going to be fully exploited whenever a Democrat, or in the case of this upcoming November, "the cabinet" is elected.

Maybe they'll start tracking individuals with CHP, like Maryland does with their cameras, and make sure they're not going anywhere they shouldn't.

Why would they? Drones are just a more efficient police helicopter, and they use those during routine patrols or to track criminals evading arrest.

Donald Trump is responsible for these riots.

Yeah, it's Trump's fault Democrats are destroying the property of other Democrats to protest police procedure set by Democrats in cities run by Democrats for generations...

Wew lad! Do us all a favor and go back to Reddit.

Why do they need drones? Drones don’t stop riots.

Logistics and seeing where the most people and fires are so the limited police resources can be most efficiently directed.

In other words, the same reason police use helicopters. Drones are just cheaper and can stay in the air longer.

I’m honestly not sure if a predator drone is cheaper than a police chopper.

It's not even close. Drones, at least the small unarmed ones just meant for surveillance, are massively less expensive than a helicopter both to buy and operate. Plus, you presumably don't need the same amount of training as a helicopter pilot to fly them.

LUNA mid-sized drone, $310,000.

"A police helicopter costs from $500,000 to $3 million to acquire, and $200-$400 an hour to fly."

No no no no, please don't cheer on more government monitoring because of the rioters. Keep the issues separate. It's like how the patriot act was passed after 9/11.

Ah yes, the Patriot Act. The bill that every liberal told use would end the country as we knew it and rob us all of our rights...nearly 20 years ago. The bill now most elected liberals have voted to reaffirm and don't publicly care about anymore.
