The headline is a day older than this one where it states they investigated the incident and found nothing. The guys got food poisoning and thought someone poisoned them.

Oh, the investigation "found nothing." Could it be that they decided that finding fault might cause harm to minority communities so they decided to bury the incident?

Has this ever happened before?

Do you find this a plausible scenario considering what's happening right now?

Has the media been stoking an atmosphere of hate that would result in poisoning incidents like this?

If you were in charge of the investigators, would you release the truth if it happened? Why or why not?

If the media were trying to stoke the fire wouldn't they paint it in a different light? You're contradicting yourself a bit but I'll answer your last question.

I can say with 100% certainty that I would release the information. Why? Because it doesn't make sense not to from whichever stance you have. Poisoning someone is pretty awful and lying about being poisoned to get more support for "your side" is just as bad.

Seems to me they were channeling a bit of Jussie Smullet but I could be wrong.

I wasn't trying to get I to a debate about any of this....I was just trying to say you could've linked the other article as well and given the full scope of the situation instead of something that would be, as you put it, stoking the atmosphere

We're dealing with some bad hombres here. They absolutely would lie, and they lie all the time. They especially lie by omission, when something should be reported but isn't.

So you posted one side of a story as to do the opposite? You realize the irony here, right?

You neither addressed nor refuted anything I had to say. If you have something to say regarding the high likelihood of officials or the media lying to favor their side in the protests, then make your point. "Billy's Mom lets him do it too!" is not an argument. Please refer to the Pyramid of Debate.

Printing information like this is 100% badthink and would cause a sympathetic reaction towards the police. They are The Other. You never, ever sympathize with The Other and it is OK to lie about them, smear them, cheat them, and engage in behavior that is normally completely immoral in your society. I'll break down what I was trying to say as simply as I can because I think it's flying over your head...

You posted one article and I was remarking there was another article on the same site posted AFTER the date of the article you linked stating they already completed an investigation regarding the incident and cleared anyone of wrongdoing. You said "they" were only telling a portion of the story (which honestly who knows. Maybe. But you don't and I don't) and it was to incite more of a divide but you yourself only posted a portion of the story.

I wasn't trying to get into a debate, I was telling you that you are doing the same as the media giants by posting a portion of the story hoping people will jump onto your side.

It's weird.

Also, why do you always jump to "pyramid of debate" when you get called out? That's also weird.

Because that's the whole point of this site? Actual arguments? Instead of "Billy's mom lets him do it too!" That's not an argument. You actually appeared to make an argument this time. Excellent! You're learning. That's why we have the Pyramid of Debate in the first place!

they already completed an investigation regarding the incident and cleared anyone of wrongdoing.

They clearly have a motivation to lie. To show that police were poisoned would cast them in the role of victim, which is absolutely not wanted right now. It would be a body blow to the protests.

Just ask "who benefits?" and that's usually where the truth is. Especially when powerful people have the ability and the motivation to deceive.

Why didn't you just link the latter article? That is all I was saying. I even linked it. It has text taken directly from the first and portrays the exact same message as the first but with a resolution allowing you to make your own assumptions at the end.

Wow. You just like to argue and that's not at all why I'm here. I'm on this site to get away from people like you who want to decide what part of a story we get to hear/read without giving all of the details so they can elicit a specific emotion from the reader/saiditer

I prefer intelligent conversation over condescension and arguing.

Wow...that's what I'm doing? How can you read my mind like that? That's an amazing ability! Hey, can you do it again? Can you tell me what I had for breakfast?

I prefer intelligent conversation

Says the man who just told me what I was thinking. What you did was literally a personal attack. It's on the bottom of the Pyramid of Debate for a reason.
