Men with guns patrol the streets. They decide which law they will enforce. They decide which laws they will ignore. The legislature has no authority. The governor is not obeyed. Men with guns now rule.

Sheriffs and police officers (and governors, for that matter) took an oath to uphold The Constitution of the United States, which is the supreme law of the land. Lockdown orders which imprison healthy people who have been accused of no crime, violate The Constitution, especially the First Amendment, which includes "...the right to peaceably assemble, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.". The legislature does not have the authority to pass laws in violation of The Constitution, and these sheriffs are morally and legally right in refusing to enforce them.

    There is just something all so weird about all this. Literally anything can be made "illegal" - it's like Nineteen Eighty Four and Fahrenheit 451 and all those other books are becoming reality. They were always becoming reality, but it seems like this has accelerated in recent times.
