The police record license plates all over all the time. That is one reason we have license plates. This is not an intrusion.

If you go about town in a car with a big identifying number on it you cannot expect people to not notice the big identifying number. The police wrote down these numbers a hundred years ago. Now they do it with computers. There is a difference of scale, but not of kind.
