The wait time for Gay men was 1 year. They have just removed that and made it 3 months for both blood and plasma. 3 months i believe is the technical window for most variations of the virus to show up in testing.

I'm not sure why all the pearl clutching. After i received certain vaccines before going overseas i was limited to giving blood before a year had passed. If you have hetero sex you are also supposed to be limited in donating blood.

Risk factors for the gay are high. Pretending they aren't isn't smart. Then again, why bother, men can pretend to be women and vice versa, so i suppose this is a natural progression. I suppose we should provably just go all in loosen restrictions on IV drug users as well.

Whether a month, three months or a year, how would the medics know? Must be the honor system.

They have tests, but that's more on health.

IMO, AIDS is a hoax, in part because it's not universally standardized and varies from nation to nation, among many other reasons.

Ultimately it really depends on their lifestyle, from monogamous to promiscuous, drug free to junkie, healthy to flabby, omnivorian to vegan, etc.

Of course the media sensationalize it by interviewing a Sister Of Perpetual Indulgence.

Not 4 hours though. I still don't understand "shook". Is that slang?

I was just about to go to bed when I wrote that. If I remember will tell you. I think it was a reference to an early Dylan song: I saw a man on the street yesterday he was Really Shook. Just means shook up, upset or mildly crazed or afraid. Honestly my memory is getting so bad. After one year of college I had a major argument with my parents. Then with no money to escape, I joined the army. After a year of army school I sat inside a microwave van too small to swing a cat and my brain has never been quite the same since then. It is official as in MRI. After I got out it was work/study/work/study until I got an MA and then I got out of the US for good, never looking back. My back pages.

You know, I don't even know what I was apologizing for. But these times will be something to tell my grand kids about, except I forgot to have kids. Doh. No, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I tend to believe that AIDS is a hoax too. I even saw one docu that said poppers were the cause. They lowered the immune response. I don't believe that one either.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting lives we lead (or follow).

The poppers thing is valid IMO, among other drugs and things. It's also not good if you have many partners as you'll have MANY more bio-ecosystems for your immune system to adapt to. Also, when you donate blood they foolishly mix it all together so that's not good for anyone receiving it, including hemophiliacs. Similarly being an unhealthy vegan, being a junkie, sleep deprivation, unhealthy limited diets (Africa), etc. - there are MANY other ways to get a false positive HIV status.
