Restaurants and stores around the city would be required to accept cash under a bill that's expected to pass the City Council on Thursday.
The "cashless ban" is sponsored Bronx councilman Ritchie Torres.
His measure would bar businesses in the city from only accepting credit and debit cards.
It also prohibits businesses from charging cash-paying customers more than those who don't pay cash.
