Yeah it's just a bad solution. As usual Dem's solutions are just bad solutions to problems that originate from feelings. If I really felt bad about a random low skill worker not getting enough of a living wage, I would at least come up with an effective solution. Something like allowing any minimum wage but then imposing basic limit to how long they can be paid this low, which will force companies to give a raise or fire them. This would at least get the job market moving, and allow companies invest properly on people they deem valuable. Maybe that's not the solution but the approach is such that you are minding the way the market works, unlike simple blanket laws that obviously break because of the complexity of the market.
