There's this book "3 felonies a day" on amazon, you can search it. Basically the premise is that the average american commits 3 felonies every day on average, without even realizing it.
Our laws are far too complex. Not even the lawyers know them because there are too many. I once read if you were to read all laws that apply to you in 2019, you would have to read 100 pages a day for 1000 years.

The purpose of laws is not to make people do good, the reason for laws is to help the state meet their private prison quotas.
When the US was a free country, killing and theft were illegal.
Now you can be arrested for taking pictures, swearing, smoking, owning a gun, using a straw, depositing less than $10,000 into your own bank account, protesting, feeding the homeless, using a VPN, not buying insurance, sleeping in your car, starting a business, wearing baggy pants, or owning a tiny home.

The whole world is a police state now, but some countries are more free than other nations.
You could find countries with the least tyranny by looking at the Index of Economic Freedom.

Another way to find free countries is to look at the number of prisoners in a country. While every country is a police state today, some countries are too poor to jail criminals. You would have more freedom in a place where the government doesn't enforce the law often or imprison people.

new law just passed in nyc! If you threaten to call ICE on an actual illegal immigrant or call an actual illegal immigrant what they are, you can face fines up to 250,000! Not allowed to say/refer to anyone as an illegal alien, even if that's what they are!
