It is a SURGERY. All surgeries create a WOUND and sometimes wounds do not heal well. This is basic, common sense, that shouldn't even need to be explained to anyone, but people act like surgery is not a big deal and that you're not doing anything horribly invasive and permanent to the body. Technically our bodies weren't meant to be cut apart and reassembled, we are lucky as fuck every time it does work.

I think what you are missing here is these surgeries are being pushed on teens who, even if they know the risks, don't have a good ability to understand consequences simply because of their stage of brain development.
