For me it's the lack of really authentic musicians. Streaming has meant record companies need to guarantee a billion plays on Spotify to realise their investment, so every facet must be managed, controlled and processed to within an inch of its life. It ends up being soulless and sounding like everything that's been successful before.

Like an Amazon recommendation algorithm.

In the good old days, there was always the record company machine, but the talent was there underpinning it and there was significant investment in A&R to find new musicians and performers.

Combining that with the corporatisation of live music (360 recording deals, Ticketmaster, corporate venues) there isn't the space to visit a dingy club to find a great band.

It's so depressing!

In a time of information overload, background noise is unnecessary distraction and use of your limited information processing resources. When you, at least mentally, work 24/7, you have no time to enjoy music.

Music peaked in 1971 and has done nothing but go down hill since 1972. It sucks. The crappy ass new stuff they play right now sounds like it came right out of the 1980's.

Most music in the 60s was terrible. The 70s and 80s were far better than that.

Most music in every decade is horseshit. Just because you remember good songs doesn't mean your decade was any better.

There's insane amount of talent out there but they won't suck that producer cock in order to get promoted.

There really isn't an insane amount of talent out there.

Most musicians only have one good song in them, if that, and the ability to produce good songs decreases with age, the opposite of almost every other art form.
