/u/magnora7 /u/JasonCarswell for the record I nominate this as the official saidit theme song.

Pink Floyd bought the rights to this "Stephen Hawking" clip from an ad agency, it was used in a commercial. Gilmour had mixed feelings about using it but I think it worked great and stands strong even today.

I guess all expandos are broken, even in the non-mobile site? I'm pretty sure I didn't do this, as I've only made CSS changes. At least I hope not lol. Can you please update the github and then we can walk back whatever made them not work?

Also the very-top bar now shows for everyone all the time? I don't know how this happened. Have we been hacked or something? Or were you adjusting things?

I think the top bar and the expandos not working are somehow related, is a debug setting activated or something? Also when making a new post it simultaneously shows both the link and selfpost options simultaneously. I remember seeing this bug once before. Some setting got flipped or something? Any ideas?

Oops I think I left debug mode on. I'll fix it.

I made some progress on RedReader, https://oauth.saidit.net is in place, I'll keep hammering on it.

Nice, we'll put it on background autoplay on the main page. just kidding :P

Cool song though, can't go wrong with Pink Floyd!

Better than this ? : /s/music/comments/87e/music_pink_floyd_on_the_turning_away/

(At least I could find it. Really, the comments should be searchable. When/if you can.)

Good album.

ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO CUT YOUTUBE INTO LITTLE PIECES!!!!!

"Pink Floyd - One of These Days (1988, Delicate Sound of Thunder, Enhanced)" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go_OFriHOEI

I like the secret little Doctor Who hook riff.

The flying pig makes me think of The Beatles White Album Helter Skelter and Piggies and/or that the fat Zionist on Wall Street are potential bacon to cannibalize. Or cops.

That was the live version. Just found the BEST video for the original version, "Pink Floyd - One of These Days" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea_j7Lc9SYM

Shit, you know, just as I went to post I saw your On the Turning Away and second guessed everything. It's equally worthy of consideration for sure.

I had no idea there was a Dr. Who riff, I'll have to check into that.

Maybe both of our picks are too slow and dreary though, maybe we need a damn jingle. Like the King of the Hill song, something to warm up our typing fingers or thumbs.

I wish LSD trips were small furry animals, I found them to be more like Revolution #9 and retired from the whole thing. Ugh nevermind furry animals is pretty spot on too.

I added the lyrics to Turning Away to that post.

Also, the Doctor Who theme riff starts at 2m30s. FYI it's never "Dr. Who" but always is "Doctor Who".

Of all the Doctor Who themes my favourite versions are the 1970s and very early 1980s.

Delia Derbyshire's "Doctor Who Theme 4 - Full Version (1967-1980)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi_aPoaK4Tg

"Doctor Who Tom Baker 1980 Opening And Closing" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtoMXdhTx9o Almost sounds like a Vangelis rip off.

There's a sweet but tragic story about the very clever woman who made it what it was, Delia Derbyshire.

The original music was painstakingly and tediously constructed, like animation is, but for the ears.

"All samples are privately archived and are not for public release, we apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation." The BBC is just propaganda not a public service of and for and by the people, otherwise they wouldn't be so stingy/greedy with their public "national treasures".

Failed to find anything substantial about the end of her life but I learned more along the way.

You may think I'm a Doctor Who fan. I watched it when I was 10 but have no interest in the rest of the sad series, except I may see if the new female Doctor is any good. Other than that I only like the theme song (and none of the other soundtracks), and I would die to marry someone as cute as Jenna Louise Coleman, though not die enough to bother watching her episodes. (Has she even been in anything else?)
