You know I had never heard that song before yesterday on Pandora. I had listened to Steppenwolf ofc but not that one. Pretty understandable that doesn't make it on the radio.

Leonard Cohen was another canuck artist and I have come to deeply love his work but never heard anything of his until the movie Wonder Boys. Which is kinda a rapey movie if you think about it but I digress. Pretty sure nobody in the US knew who he was until Hallelujah.

Although that's not exclusively a bias against canuckistan, Lou Reed never got much mainstream love and he's a giant. Not just his amazing work but the people he influenced...

Worth noting is that he does not demonize drugs, nor users. God damn the pusher man, taking advantage and enabling chronic problems.

/u/Dinosaurysus = dinosaur with psoriasis? Old man/woman/zir, you should clear that up (and avoid the vaccine as it makes some people lose their skin, unlike COVID).

I saw Wonder Boys 20 years ago. Completely forgot what it's about. Yes, Cohen's The Future album was classic, with a few standout greats. His Sisters Of Mercy (not to be confused with the excellent band) was also great, as are many of the covers. Everybody Knows is brilliant also excellently covered by Concrete Blonde. Not a fan of Hallelujah as it's too religious and it reminds me of K.D. Lang who covered it, yet I do like some other religious tracks (though not for their dogma - ie. Miserere, Spem In Alium).

Yes Reed is another, also with his work superbly covered by others.

God of dinosaur wine obviously.

He's not exactly demonizing the pusher man either, just goddamn him. Necessary evil.

Cirrhosis of the living dinosaur.

Hmm, I'd never thought about the pushup man as a secretary weevil for prophets. Make cents.
