That's the most important part of the article. "Of the dead formats, albums have become less dead than CDs" would have been a good title.

I just gave my niece the few vinyl albums I owned. I never owned a record player but I had amassed a few anyways from people giving them to me. Vinyl has always had a fan base, and probably always will, but it's become popular with a niche group of young people these days, propelling it over CDs which are all but obsolete except for people like me who have an old car stereo. And that doesn't mean I buy CDs, I just burn em.

Music cut on vinyl often uses a different mastering than CD. Thats why if you check the dynamic ranges of certain albums you may see differences between formats. Although digitally recorded music has improved over the years, analog music has that organic component to it.
