I'm from Romania.

I even created the sub /s/Romania and I'm gonna write a post explaining the romanian presidential elections that will happen this Month.

pizdă matii!

coincidences, me too! I grew up having that phrase hurled at me every time I misbehaved lmao. I wish I could speak it, I only know a few phrases, like I love you/what are you doing/how are you, etc. And of course curses.

edit: /u/debrepus I obviously don't know much about Romanian politics although I try to keep up, but when this video was first released, it gave me chills when they started singing Romania's National Anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIbWwFW8g0c I don't wanna get political again (I'm honestly not on any "side"), but I do believe each country should maintain their culture, if you mixed every flavor of ice cream together and had no choices, it'd be boring. It seems only a few European nations are standing up to immigrants who don't really assimilate well.. Sweden's unofficial Sharia Zones are an example of this, where even the police have given up control.

For anyone who sees this, this is the literal english translation of part of the anthem they're singing:

Wake up, Romanian, from your sleep of death

Into which you have been sunk by the barbaric tyrants

Now, or never, make a new fate for yourself,

To which even your cruel enemies will bow.

Now or never let us give proof to the world

That in these veins a Roman blood still flows,

That in our chests we hold a name with pride,

Victorious in battle, the name of Trajan!

Bad ass national anthem.

Holy shit! Well... when you think that 6 million romanians emigrated maybe it's not that surprising :).

Romainian curses are probably the most creative in the world, I could probably curse someone for an hour with a different curse every time.

I think I'm gonna post on /s/Romania tomorrow after some revision because it's a pretty big explanation, I'm not sure how much you know about romanian politics but things aren't great at all, there is hope though.

That much I do know concerning Romanian politics, but I don't know the main details or specifics. It's hard keeping up when you don't read/speak the language. It's a great idea for a sub!

And yeah, I know my family moved out of fear of communism - supposedly a lot of others moved during this time period as well a couple of decades after ww2.

and Romanian curses and insults are funny as fuck.

Well I'm gonna try to clear your view tomorrow, be sure to reply so we get the post to frontpage. I'm gonna write as impartial as I can and show the wrongs of all sides, that's why I'm on saidit after all...
