IIRC the producer of the show received an in-person visit from a high level officer in the coast guard .

The officer delivered a stack of letters that had been sent to the coast guard from concerned TV watchers, who insisted the coast guard send a ship to rescue the stranded crew.

Fun fact: The senior cinematographer on Gilligan's island... also filmed the moon landings.

There are none. The moon landings were part of a sitcom starring Buzz Aldrin and Woody Allen called Boy Story, where they were up to wacky adventures with a moon giant called Andy Warhol. During the 1984 retcon of history where the council of adults decided to destroy all the old records and fake world history for the lulz so the kids wouldn't find out about what they were really up to in the 60's, they made up this idea that the moon landing was something they actually did to so they'd seem metal as fuck and reworked the sitcom into the hit Pixar movie Toy Story to hide the fact they spend most of the 60's stoned off their ass in Santa Monica until Micheal Stepford invented the first woman in 1974 named Sky Net and she quickly replicated and enslaved mankind.

Sounds horribly plausible.
