I agree this is retarded, but if this is hypocritical, then so is the conservative stance that merely reverses the order of contradictory stances. I.e, if its hypocritical to be Anti-Gun and Pro-Choice, then it is equally hypocritical to be Pro-Gun and Pro-Life

It could be argued that guns are justified on the basis of self-defense against a human being with agency (usually an adult) who has chosen an action which immediately threatens you. On the other hand, abortion is always the taking of an innocent life ... if you happen to believe that a fetus is alive.

I'm not sure where I stand on that last point. My spouse's former partner conducted ultrasounds for a living, and went from pro-choice to pro-life on the basis of his visceral experiences.

I think this is complex.

Is a freshly fertilized egg a human? No, it is essentially an egg yolk, a blob of undifferentiated cells.

Is a 8.5 month fetus a human, yeah, I'd say it probably is.

At precisely what does it become a human being? I'm not sure, I would think it would have to do with the level of brain development myself.

The reason they are in favor of both is projection it's quite simple.
