Nothing political is ever 100% consistent, and they had to choose from terrible candidates. But pre-2020 they at least generally believed in some basic tenants. Now they're just like the left: "nothing matters except crushing everyone who disagrees with us".

Nope, that's what you folks were saying about Republicans in 2016, 2004, 1972, 1876, etc.

Stop pretending we live in an eternal present with no memory.
