Saidit is larger than ruqqus and is seeing more growth, despite the fervent commenting about ruqqus on reddit.

Look at the google search traffic for "saidit" vs ruqqus: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=ruqqus,%22saidit%22

Saidit has slow steady growth by word of mouth. Ruqqus has short-term hype that is already dying down. The google trends results reflect that. We see more visitors on a daily basis than ruqqus does, as our alexa rank shows that. We're doing fine.

But aside from that, it's not about splitting... people can use more than one website, as well they should so they can get a broad variety of information. It's just about giving people more options. More options is a good thing.

I didn't meant to imply Saidit is objectively doing bad right now.

But, judging by activity I observe here vs there, even just the upvotes and large subs, it seems they currently have more of it.
Search trends are one thing, but there are other metrics for growth - word of mouth never worked better than coordinated advertisement (even when it is, too word of mouth - but directed, focused one, based on an actual strategy).

Sure, I believe Saidit will keep growing - but as it stands, Ruqqus will overtake it, for its more passionate userbase if nothing else.
Not that this is a bad thing, by the way - more options are indeed always good.
But, if this site consolidates its place as the "one of the alternatives" while Ruqqus is "the Alternative", the new users will dry out, and the content will start becoming more stale - a process that will take months (maybe a year or two), but will eventually happen unless you actively prevent it.

I've been advertising saidit on reddit for 3 years, far more than anyone else, and I always encourage others to do so. I don't know why ruqqus users are so strong to proselytize, I think there may be advertising campaigns that are paid.

Someone on reddit recently called saidit the "heir apparent" to reddit. The consensus is not just around ruqqus as you imply, it's pretty evenly split between saidit and ruqqus, and we will have to see if ruqqus can sustain growth the way saidit has. We're lucky to have a codebase we know can scale to millions of users, because it has done so, and ruqqus does not have that battle-tested software that can scale.

We will have to see if ruqqus has staying power like saidit does.

But I welcome multiple sites, more options is better. I just don't think saidit is falling behind like you say. But I get what you mean.

I've seen they implemented the downvoting system on Ruqqus, so it is a matter of time every sub there will become a circle jerk, just like Reddit.
