<10% fought in the revolutionary war. Most were fence sitting normies that would support whoever appeared to be winning. The revolutionaries had around 30% popular support. People think revolutions are where the whole population rises up against the government. It's not, all it takes it a dedicated core with enough outside popular support to acquire non-martial aid from some sectors of the population/economy.
