Although I've done it myself, I don't know that derision or making fun of people is productive. Belittling others can be a tactic to discredit another individual without offering information or a logical argument and encourage group-think.

I think the best we can do is offer information we each individually find relevant. It is up to each individual whether they want to consider the information or not.

The current wave of censorship indicates desperation to me. People like Aaron Swartz wanted to make scientific papers from MIT freely available and was essentially neutralized. Reddit has been infiltrated by groups like the Atlantic Council. YouTube has become the next generation of corporate media along the same lines of satellite, cable, and broadcast TV. The media itself is the most consolidated in history.

At this point, they are striking back hard at anything countering their narrative. I think it's important to understand that growth and wisdom do not occur by limiting what information may be considered by any individual. Censorship is the way of ignorance and control, and is certainly not science.

We as individuals have the right to communicate with each other and share information and ideas.

Distraction can happen with a flood of false information to throw people off track. Russiagate is prime example of this.

Infiltration of groups has been going on for centuries, and it is certainly continuing now. An individual should not be judged solely by their rhetoric, they should mainly be judged by their actions.

I think Saidit has good faith users who are here to share their information and their truth, and while I may disagree with any specific user, I appreciate their sharing. I find it much more interesting to consider information and opinions from individuals who are critically thinking for themselves over the information pumped out by the machine.

While I believe attempts have been made to infiltrate, Saidit being run by two individuals who have thus far demonstrated that they are not doing it for personal gain, has made that difficult.

So, thank you Jason, and thank you Saidit!

Edit: I should have mentioned the two individuals running Saidit being magnora7 and d3rr

Brilliantly stated.

" Although I've done it myself, I don't know that derision or making fun of people is productive. "

EXCELLENT POINT!

"Derision" was the closest similar rhyming word to parody or satire - and I meant only to mock the "authorities", "experts", and "leaders" who lose their legitimacy via corruption, deception, manipulation, exploitation, greed, hypocrisy, and calls for and actions of anti-freedom, harm, theft, or violence. I certainly did not mean for people to deride others among the masses, sheeple or not.

Also, to avoid confusion for anyone new to SaidIt, I am a huge fan of SaidIt and it's mission but I am not an admin - it is generously run by magnora7 and d3rr. (Feel free to donate to them to cover expenses via the links in the footer of every page.)
