Everybody in North America got fatter. Look at pictures from the 50's or 60's and you might wonder: Where are all the fat people?

There weren't any. My high school had one fat kid, and he wasn't really even fat, more like chubby.

Now you can't swing a dead cat by the tail without hitting a dozen fatties.

true however on avg women are fatter than men, and this is cuz on avg they lead a more lazy sedentary lifestyle. there are fat men too of course and they can't complain. it is just more of a problem that women are fatter. attractiveness for women is based on youth and body not being fat. attractiveness for men is based on height, frame and face. Plenty of fat burly guys can get hot girls altho they will look even better if they lose the weight and get chiselled.

Look at the photos of circus freaks from years past. The fat man, the bearded lady. All of them readily viewable today.

Everybody in North America got fatter.

This may be especially true for N.A, but it is not uniquely true for N.A.. Go walk down the street in Germany, then watch footage of either Germany or the USA some time before 1980. Everyone is skinnier in the old footage. While the US may be the fattest of developed nations (I don't know), everyone is plumper than before. People used to be skinny pretty much across the board. I would have called myself fat when I was growing up, yet people tell me I look good for me age...
