We have noted many times that BuzzFeed, a languishing darling of the mid-2010s VC love affair with "hip" "progressive" digital-media companies, has never been profitable, and while it's revenues have climbed somewhat in recent years, it remains modestly unprofitable.
Buzzfeed was a 'darling'? Im going to have to look this word up:
darling (plural darlings)
A person who is dear to one.
A kind or sweet person; sweetheart.
An affectionate term of address. Synonyms: see Thesaurus:sweetheart
(by extension) A person or thing very popular with a certain group. a media darling a darling of the theatre
