Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I actually think pedophilia should be treated as a psychological/medical condition - these people need help. As soon as you ACT on those feelings though, you face the wall.

It's unpopular because it's been shown not to work.

The UK had to shut their scheme to stop paedophiles reoffending down after it actually increased offending.

This is because the main thing which encourages paedophiles to offend is if they feel social acceptance for that behaviour, which therapy creates.

Also the same effect is seen in psychopaths, therapy causes more offending, and many paedophiles are psychopaths as well.

Paedophilia is a form of sadism, they get off on torturing children, it's not like a sexuality. This is why they have always been so hated because the real world actions of paedos doesn't match their rhetoric at all. They commit horrific crimes if they think they can get away with it, not just touch kids up (that's just the start).

That program was for people who are already sex offenders who committed a crime though. All I'm suggesting is that if you have these feelings but haven't acted on them you should be able to get confidential help from a psychologist or doctor or whatever. Maybe that's already the case.

I'm not talking about people who have already touched kids or distributed CP or anything like that. Those people are criminals if found guilty of their crimes and should be treated as such.

What do you mean by having feelings and not acted on them?

Do you really think men suddenly walk down the street one day, see a child and think "sexy".

Sadistic fantasy always comes first which then makes children an attractive target. These people are acting out abuse and rape in their minds, not just having airy untethered feelings.

This is why social acceptance is the biggest driver for paedophiles to offend. They already have multiple plans of how they are going to do it, they just need an excuse to assuage their guilt.

Why should what someone fantasizes or acts out in their mind be of any consequence? Are you arguing in favor of the idea of thought crimes?
